Peritoneal fluid Creatinine levels and urea nitrogen evaluation Objective: To evaluate urea nitrogen and creatinine levels in peritoneal fluid. Methods: We prospectively evaluated 20 consecutive women having radical hysterectomy with lymph-adenectomy. On postoperative days

چکیده

Results: The mean urea nitrogen was 11 mg/dL in serum, 11 mg/dL in peritoneal fluid, and 469 mg/dL in urine. The mean creatinine was .9 mg/dL in serum, 1.0 mg/dL in peritoneal fluid, and 141 mg/dL in urine. Urea nitrogen and creatinine values in peritoneal fluid and serum were essentially identical. Urine urea nitrogen and creatinine values were significantly greater than serum and peritoneal values (47 to 157 times greater) (P < .011). On post-operative days 2 and 3, serial levels of serum, peritoneal fluid, and urine urea nitrogen and creatinine in the same subject showed no significant variation (P ranging from .19 to .31).

Evaluation of the effect of exercise on serum creatinine and urea nitrogen in hemodialysis patients

Introduction. Chronic renal failure is a progressive disease in which kidney function is impaired, so that the body can not metabolize and maintain fluid balance and electrolytes. Therefore, the present study investigated changes in serum creatinine and urea nitrogen in hemodialysis patients in response to exercise. Materials and Methods. The subjects of this study were dialysis patients who we...

Lactulose efficacy in reduction of nitrogen products, blood potassium and fluid overload in patients with end-stage renal failure.

Abstract Introduction. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major public health problem that often goes unrecognized until late-stage disease. Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) face with uremic toxins and hyperkalemia. Also fluid overload in CKD patients is associated with rapid decline in kidney function. Lactulose is a hyper osmotic agent and as a prebiotic could reduce serum urea and p...

Measurement of peritoneal fluid urea nitrogen and creatinine levels is useful to detect iatrogenic urinary tract leakage in colorectal surgery.

BACKGROUND Increased peritoneal drainage after colorectal surgery is a common problem. Measurement of peritoneal fluid urea nitrogen (UN) and creatinine (Cr) is a diagnostic tool to detect the urinary tract leakage (UTL). We evaluated its application in colorectal surgery. METHODS We conducted a retrospective chart review study. We enrolled patients with iatrogenic UTL, and measured their UN ...
